Buffer Tanks

Fiorini Buffer Tanks, A Complete And Customisable Range

Buffer tanks are tanks used to store chilled water, allowing the operating cycle of the matched heat pump to be optimised and thereby increasing its efficiency. Fiorini buffer tanks stand out in terms of their longevity, the high-density insulation used and the finishing done in true “Made in Italy” style.

The range of Fiorini buffer tanks has been designed to improve the operation and the performance of the most advanced conditioning systems.

The broad range and the options for customisation enable optimum solutions to be built for any type of system. Fiorini buffer tanks increase the system’s water capacity and improve the longevity of machines, heat pumps, chillers and compressors.

Advantages

How It Works

Fiorini buffer tanks are used to store chilled water and are essential in every conditioning system that operates with a reduced amount of water. Installing a storage tank makes the heat pump more efficient and increases its longevity.

Thanks to the storage of chilled water, provided by Fiorini buffer tanks, continuous and rapid changes in the water temperature, due to intermittent regulation, are avoided. Installing a Fiorini buffer tank is also recommended because it reduces, as far as is possible, the compressor’s start-up and switch off cycles.

The storage tanks, depending on the aim, can be divided into balancing tanks and in-line storage tanks. The balancing tanks create 2 separate circuits which have anti-mix or internal baffles, diffusing pipes or conveyor pipes. The in-line storage tanks, on the other hand, do not divide the circuit and should be installed on the return side, preferably before the circulation pump.

MINI-HC (Hot & Cold wall-mounted)

Fiorini Wall-Mounted, Hot & Cold Buffer Tanks

The MINI-HC series is made up of two wall-mounted tanks of 80 and 40 litres, normally used in “HOLT-COLD” systems suitable for use with a heat pump.

They perform the functions of a balancing tank, making the flows in the two circuits independent, and a buffer tank, to minimise the heat pump’s start-ups. The MINI-HC has two additional connections dedicated to a possible supplemental source.

VKG-HC Buffer Tanks

Buffer Tank

The VKG-HC buffer tanks include insulated tanks for “HOT/COLD” systems.

They are used to increase the thermal inertia of the system and are suitable for use with a heat pump, since they are useful in limiting compressor, or generator, restarts. Fiorini VKG-HC units have a set of two additional connections dedicated to a possible supplemental source. The exterior coating can be in PVC for indoor installations (VKG-HC) or in embossed aluminium for outdoor installations (VKGE-HC)

VKG-Buffer Tanks

Buffer Tank

VKG buffer tanks are insulated to only contain chilled water.

They are generally used in conditioning systems in which there is not a particularly high need for protection against corrosion. VKG buffer tanks have the job of increasing the system’s thermal inertia and are recommended for single loop or double loop applications. They are available, depending on their capacity, in a vertical and a horizontal version. The exterior coating can be in PVC for indoor installations (VKG) or in embossed aluminium for outdoor installations (VKGE).

VK Buffer Tanks (Galvanised)

Buffer Tanks (Galvanised)

VK Galvanised buffer tanks are insulated to only contain chilled water.

They are normally used to increase the thermal inertia in conditioning systems and are recommended for single loop or double loop applications. Galvanising them adds further protection against corrosion in the tank. They are available, depending on their capacity, in a vertical and a horizontal version. The exterior coating can be in PVC for indoor installations (VK) or in embossed aluminium for outdoor installations (VKE).

Enamelled Buffer Tanks VKT

Enamelled Buffer Tanks VKT

VKT Enamelled buffer tanks are insulated to only contain chilled water.

They are normally used to increase the thermal inertia in conditioning systems and are suitable for single loop or double loop applications. Hot Bluetech enamelling, with thermosetting resins, adds superior protection against corrosion compared to traditional cold enamelling treatments. VKT buffer tanks are available in a vertical version with PVC exterior coating.

VKX - Buffer Tanks

VKX Buffer Tanks

VKX stainless steel buffer tanks are insulated to only contain chilled water.

They are normally used to increase the thermal inertia in conditioning systems and are suitable for single loop or double loop applications. The stainless steel provides excellent protection against corrosion, making the VKX models particularly recommended for systems using aggressive fluids or for industrial uses. VKX buffer tanks are available in a vertical version with PVC exterior coating.

VKS Buffer Tanks

VKS Buffer Tanks

The VKS buffer tanks with internal baffles are insulated to only contain chilled water and are used to increase the thermal inertia in conditioning systems.

They have internal baffles which prevent preferential flow within the tank thereby creating the conditions for excellent temperature distribution. These buffer tanks are particularly recommended for medium to high flows and also for special designs in which the tank is set up to be connected to more than two circuits.

VKS buffer tanks are ideal for systems that do not have a particularly high need for protection against corrosion and are suitable for double loop applications. They are available in a vertical version with PVC exterior coating.

VKR - Buffer Tanks

VKR Buffer Tanks

VKS buffer tanks with conveyor pipes are insulated to only contain chilled water and are used to increase the thermal inertia in conditioning systems.

They have conveyor pipes which create a preferential circuit within the tank so as not to affect the chiller’s efficiency, whilst maintaining a superior thermal inertia. They are particularly recommended when there are medium to high flows, for systems in which there is not a particularly high need for protection against corrosion. VKR buffer tanks are suitable for double loop applications and are available in a vertical version with PVC exterior coating.

VKD Buffer Tanks

VKD Buffer Tanks

VKD buffer tanks with diffusing pipes are insulated to only contain chilled water and are normally used to increase the thermal inertia in conditioning systems.

They have diffusing pipes which make the temperature more uniform and which connect directly to the two circuits inside with tank. By means of the diffuser’s circumferential holes, energy is given to or taken from the storage tank, reducing to the minimum any mixing within the tank. VKD buffer tanks are recommended for systems in which there is not a particularly high need for protection against corrosion. They are suitable for double loop applications and are available in a vertical version with PVC exterior coating.
